Stillwater Dwellings invited to join University of Texas San Antonio's College of Architecture lecture series.

UTSA architecture lecture series opens with talk on contemporary prefab homes

(Sept. 26, 2011) -- The UTSA College of Architecture Fall Lecture Series will open with "The Promise of Prefab Homes: Obtainable or Fiction?" at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28 in the Buena Vista Theater (1.326) at the UTSA Downtown Campus. The COA series is free and open to the public.

Partners Matthew Stannard and Bart Mitchell of the design/build firm Stillwater Dwellings will present their products and business concepts. The Seattle company is known for its unique contemporary prefabricated homes centered on affordability, sustainability and quality.

"A lecture series is a great opportunity for a college of architecture to present a wide spectrum of examples of success in design," said John Murphy, dean of the UTSA College of Architecture. "Whether it is an up-and-coming extremely talented designer or a person very established in his or her successful career, it is an opportunity to engage directly with the general public, related disciplines and students of the built environment. We are fortunate to have these individuals scheduled to come to San Antonio this year, and we hope people will take advantage of the opportunity to hear them speak."

Stillwater Dwellings was established in 2008 to provide affordable, quality-built prefabricated homes. All homes feature the company's signature soaring butterfly roofline; eco-friendly wood flooring; over-insulated walls, ceilings and floors; and hi-efficiency windows. Stillwater's viable business model has garnered attention for its focus on sustainability and green building paired with exceptional value and time efficiency related to construction management and manufacturing.
